Emily Maher

Psychologist

Emily is a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). She is experienced working with adolescents, adults, couples and elderly persons on mental health, emotional and relationship issues. 

Emily is skilled in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of mental health issues including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, major depression, bipolar, schizophrenia and personality disorders. Emily has particular interest in helping individuals improve their self-esteem, motivation, work stress and relationship issues. 

Emily’s background involves working with CALD groups, in particular the Italian-Australian community. She can connect strongly with culturally sensitive issues and multicultural and migrant populations. She is fluent in Italian. Emily is currently working as a psychologist in the community sector, and previously worked in crisis support with Lifeline Australia. 

Emily is a warm and caring therapist, with a passion for helping others and making a positive difference in their lives. She fosters strong and genuine bonds with clients and their families, and goes above and beyond for them. Emily is trained in cognitive and behavioural therapy (CBT), schema therapy (ST), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and other evidence-based approaches. 

Emily’s commitment to mental health is evidenced by her advocacy in the community. She has been interviewed by SBS News, SBS radio and Vogue Australia, and frequently presents at educational seminars and community events.
